New Nurses Residencies, West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk – Barnes Construction Ltd.

This is one of many projects Barnes Construction have managed on the hospital site.  Terrasite are carrying out a £1m groundworks package within the grounds of the existing hospital, navigating many constraints regards working around the public, coordinating traffic management and negotiating around numerous existing live services in the ground. The works include reinforced concrete ground-beams and lift pit bases, on-site and off-site drainage, reinforced in-situ concrete oversites and plant bases, attenuation tank, retaining walls, service ducting across the hospital grounds, and all external works. The works commenced in November 2017 and due to be complete in February 2019.

“I have worked with Terrasite at West Suffolk Hospital since November 2017, a very challenging element of works was installing foul and storm drainage 2-3m deep through the whole extent of the staff car parking with limited working space due to the carpark remaining in use.

During this time I’ve found that the proactive approach of the management and quality of the operatives that I’ve encountered work in a very safe, organised manner are some of the best examples I’ve experienced in over 30 years in the industry.

Special thanks to Ralph and Paul that are communicating closely with me and my team to ensure the best approach to suit site constraints and programme.” – Paul Hutton, Senior Site Manager, Barnes Construction.
